Kingfishers are stunning birds, but in spite of their colours they can be very difficult to see well. This was one of 2 or 3 fresh juveniles that were almost fearless close to my parents in Dublin in June and I spent as much time with them as I could.

Original copy painted by hand, with watercolor technique on special paper for watercolor.
