Merlin are Ireland’s smallest falcon, and can be very secretive in the summer months. I have been lucky to have great views of several birds since moving to Donegal, this male was part of a pair on Inishowen that unfortunately failed in their breeding attempt this year.

Original copy painted by hand, with watercolor technique on special paper for watercolor.
