A rare migrant to Ireland, the tiny Pallas’s Warbler would be a highlight of anyone’s year. I have worked on trying to capture a hovering bird for years, the striking yellow rump is best seen as the birds delicately pick insects from the underside of leaves.

Original copy painted by hand, with watercolor technique on special paper for watercolor.
